Short-Term Health Insurance

Short-term health insurance can be a temporary alternative to an ACA Marketplace plan when you are between jobs, waiting for other coverage to begin, or looking for coverage outside open enrollment. Depending on the policy, benefits may include doctor visits, urgent care, emergency treatment, hospital stays, surgery, diagnostic tests and lab work, with access to a PPO provider network. Some options also include office-visit copays and prescription benefits or discounts. These plans are not ACA-compliant and provide more limited coverage: eligibility may depend on health questions, pre-existing conditions may be excluded, and benefit limits and other exclusions apply.
