Select Health Medicare + Kroger Is Ending in Utah for 2027

Let's turn your plan notice into a clear next step.

If you have Select Health Medicare + Kroger, you do not have to sort through replacement coverage on your own. Greg & Adele Davies can help you review your notice, compare 2027 plans in your county, and make a decision with your doctors, prescriptions, and budget in mind.

Schedule Your Medicare Plan Review

Which Kroger plan is affected?

Select Health Medicare + Kroger (HMO), H1994-022, is not offered for 2027. CMS's 2027 crosswalk marks this plan as terminated/non-renewed. Its 2026 service area included Cache, Davis, Iron, Morgan, Salt Lake, Summit, Utah, Washington, and Weber counties.

If your membership card or notice shows H1994-022, it is time to review your next year's coverage. Keep your letter and envelope. Greg & Adele can help confirm your current coverage end date and compare replacement coverage for January 1, 2027.

Select Health still has Utah options

The Kroger plan's departure is a specific plan change, not a statewide exit by Select Health. Our comparison of CMS's 2027 listings shows:

  • Essential H1994-001: Cache, Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, Utah, and Weber.
  • Essential H1994-017: Iron and Washington.
  • Morgan: no Select Health Medicare Advantage plan appears in the compared 2027 Utah file.

Both listed Essential plans have $0 monthly plan premiums, but their benefits and costs differ. You still pay applicable Medicare premiums and cost-sharing. Other carriers also offer plans in many of these counties.

For St. George and Washington County residents, there are alternatives to compare. The best replacement for your neighbor may not be the best replacement for you.

A practical plan for choosing your replacement

  1. Start with the care you already use

Write down your doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, doses, and preferred pharmacy. If you use Smith's, check its network and preferred-pharmacy status on each replacement plan. Do not assume pharmacy pricing will carry over.

  2. Compare the whole cost—not just the premium

Look at drug deductibles, office visits, hospital costs, and the annual medical out-of-pocket limit. Review any grocery, over-the-counter, dental, vision, or fitness benefit you used. A new plan may handle those benefits differently.

  3. Review both coverage paths

You can compare other Medicare Advantage plans with Original Medicare plus a separate Part D drug plan and, if appropriate, Medicare Supplement insurance. A qualifying non-renewal may give you special Medigap buying rights when you return to Original Medicare.

  4. Choose a start date and confirm enrollment

Before the current plan ends, confirm that your application was accepted, when the new coverage starts, and how you will receive your new card. Greg & Adele can help explain the steps and follow up on your questions.

Put these dates on your calendar

  • October 15–December 7, 2026

During Medicare Open Enrollment, choose a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan for January 1, 2027 coverage. Your new plan must receive your enrollment request by December 7.

  • December 8, 2026–February 28, 2027

A qualifying non-renewal provides a special enrollment period. The coverage start date depends on when you enroll. Confirm your rights and effective date before waiting until this window.

  • Medigap: 60 days before to 63 days after coverage ends

If you qualify for guaranteed-issue rights and return to Original Medicare, certain Medicare Supplement policies can be purchased without medical underwriting. For coverage ending December 31, 2026, the usual application window is November 1, 2026–March 4, 2027. Eligibility and protected plan choices must be checked for your situation.

Medigap and Medicare Advantage are different coverage paths. Medigap does not pay benefits while you remain in Medicare Advantage. Keep your non-renewal notice as proof when applying.

What happens if you do not choose new coverage?

If a Medicare Advantage plan is non-renewed and you do not join another Medicare Advantage plan before it ends, Medicare says you will return to Original Medicare. Parts A and B do not include a stand-alone Part D drug plan and do not provide an annual limit on medical out-of-pocket costs without supplemental coverage.

That is why we encourage a review now. Choose replacement coverage before the Kroger plan ends so you know how your health care and prescriptions will be covered in January.
